Blog from 30000 feet

so, 30000 up, last leg home from Germany. It's definitely been an interesting time, though a flu killed a great dealbof my time budget there.

It's certainly a different lifestyle there, out in the country. Being out in the middle of nothing, there's definitely different things to care about. Honestly, I really do like city life better. Reconciliation of the two will be a challenge. How to make it work, not sure. Time will give an answer, I hope! Until then though, I definitely enjoy california weather more.

My first Korean Food

So,I tried Korean for the first time today.  I had the Spicy Pork Sizzling Bi Bim Bop at Nama, in SF.  This was incredibly tasty, and just what the doc ordered for my cold. :P

Unfortunately, the recuperative effects did not last beyond the meal.  That said, I wish I'd taken a picture.  It was Le Tasty.  Definitely will have again.

Would you like a cookie?

... For once, I can say that unironically.  As my first attempt at cookie baking, I must call this an unmitigated success.  Sure beat the rest of my day.

The verdict? YUM.

29 Firsts

Well, it would seem that my schedule for the 29 firsts is falling kind of behind, so I'm going to keep this entry as a list.  I still want to get to 29 in 29 days, but I'm going to have to squish and juggle.  Here's a list. 'X' marks things not done.

Feb 2. 2012 -- My first cocktail party

So, Thursday night was my first cocktail party which I was not 'part' of. It was fun being social and stuff, and I got to try some new whiskys.  As a matter of fact, I tried one of everything -- maybe not the wisest choice.

It did, however, make for a fun evening, and got to meet some new people, and old people too.  Not the worst new thing to do on a Thursday! :P

My first Mine^H^H^H^HPaperCraft!

Chest!

So, for my first new thing of the month, I figured I'd try a papercrafting.  This is actually basically the first arts & crafty thing I've done on my own volition, at least in terms of physical arts and crafts.

So, Feb 1 was one of my good friends' birthdays today, so I figured I'd make him a special wrapper for his present.  There were quite a few missteps, as I tried to move from a rough papercraft layout to an enlarged layout, and wrap it around cardboard for a firmer presentation.

That said, I got a kick ...

In which I saw a warning to others.

So, last Friday I saw a poor bike parked and locked on a pole in front of my place.

I figured... how long would it last?

The answer? 2 days.  Be careful with a bike folks.

Spring comes soon... Ready for it?

Sometimes, photography is all about a sense of scale. I was lucky and got to see two extremes at Lafayette Park today:

Some battles are a long time coming.

Logos (Reason)So, I haven't been in school for quite some time.  When I was, I was interested in student's rights organizations like FIRE.  However, people that were impassioned campaigners like my friend JT, and organizations like the SSA were just motes in the eye of hopeful Pastafarians.

During my juvenile years, I came to the conclusion that church, and all of its baggage just didn't make sense.  Whenever the subject came up, I began to tell people that I don't do that, and that I was an atheist.  As a fifteen year old, this made for a ...
